She incorporates cognitive behavioral interventions with a focus on acceptance-based techniques towards the treatment of a variety of diagnoses. Her areas of specialty include mood and anxiety disorders, parent training for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and behavioral difficulties, and family therapy.

Dr. Thom-Hayes received her BA in psychology and sociology from Rutgers University. During her undergraduate career, she was inducted into two national honor societies and conducted research on the parenting styles of children diagnosed with ADHD.

Dr. Thom-Hayes went on to receive her MA in educational psychology from Kean University. During her time at Kean, she received her certification in school psychology and was involved in professional projects, including a department of justice grant, and various research presentations.

Dr. Thom-Hayes received her Doctorate of Psychology in clinical and school psychology from Kean University.

During her studies at Kean University, Dr. Thom-Hayes completed both school-based and clinical externships working with a wide-range of children of varying developmental ages and diagnoses. Her school and clinical externships include, the Irvington School District, Family and Children Services, and Dorothy B. Hersh Regional Child Protection Center.

Dr. Thom-Hayes completed her pre-doctoral internship at Youth Consultation Services’ therapeutic nursery and outpatient mental health clinic. Her training within the therapeutic nursery focused on providing individual, group, family, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and milieu-based treatment with young children ages 2.5-5 with severe behavioral difficulties. Her outpatient mental health clinic, responsibilities included providing individual, family, and group-based treatment with school-aged children and their parents, as well as dyadic (infant/parent) therapy with mothers attending an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility with their children.

In addition to her work at West Morris Psychological Associates, Dr. Thom-Hayes also works as an adjunct professor at Kean University teaching various psychology courses to undergraduate students.
